One Eye Open, 2025
One Eye Open is a piece about healing, about the moment you start to see in color again.
It’s also the first piece and only piece I’ve
made that’s half color, half black and white. The embroidery mirrors the split—silver thread for grayscale, gold for full-spectrum light. It’s framed in maple and stitched with hope.
I made it in the dead of winter, when for weeks, I couldn’t see clearly. I knew I was stuck in the fog, but I couldn’t find the way out.
Eventually the world started to shift. Color returned.
This piece is that moment.
